In addition to visiting many countries around the world I have visited China at least once a year for the last twenty years. Some of the journeys have been fleeting and others
longer. My longest stay in China was between 1999 and 2001 when I worked and lived there full time. My other travels are to be found on another of my web sites martincrowther.net.
The pages listed below shows only a partial picture of my visits to and stay in China. It is complete in that the arrival and departure dates and places are correct but I have visited many more cities than are
listed during most of the trips. Another problem is trying to remember the details of journeys made years ago. Even though I now advocate carrying a note book and writing up details of the journeys I didn’t do that
many years ago. I have old diaries and visit reports scattered around the place so if and as I find out where I went I will add the data. Most of the flights I have made are listed but not the ground transports in
and out of countries.
The present part of my project is to add photographs from my travels to each of the appropriate sites. Some notes on the cameras I have used are given here.
I have literally thousands of photographs and as they stretch back over more 20 years it can be of interest to see how China has developed. Most noticeable are the appearance of cars, peoples clothes and high rise
buildings or lack thereof in the earlier years. It is still possible to see some of the same things in rural China in 2005 as were seen in the cities in 1984. Development is much more prevalent in the East so if you
want to experience China as is was - go West!
A couple of years ago ! bought a scanner and the work of putting in the photos has started. The older photos have faded and my colour correction skills are not so
good. Any tips from visitors are welcome. Please use my guest book on the home page for feedback. It’s also true that many of the photographs that one takes are lacking in composition or interest for others than the
person taking them. I have chosen to limit the photographs on the site to one of general interest.
Photographs All the photographs and notes on my travels are arranged on a yearly basis. Click on
the links below to find more details of my journeys into China. See my notes on photos. The photo gallery is just in it’s infancy but this is where all the photographs will finally reside.
